Instructional Philosophy

 

“for all students to begin with basic classical technical training in order to eventually learn to be able to perform in any style of music including:
  • Classical
  • Celtic
  • Country & Western
  • Old-time
  • Jazz

Childrenstarting at the age of three will receive instruction in Suzuki’s “Mother Tongue Method.” Mothers and/or Fathers should expect to train along with the child for at least the first year.

General includes instruction in basic Music Theory and History when appropriate.

Novice experienced in instructing all ages from pre-school to retired.Intermediate – Students with at least a Level 3 Royal Conservatory competency can expect more detailed and focused instruction in technical matters including scales, etudes, bowings, fingerings, vibrato and the like.

AdvancedMore detailed and specific instruction in areas such as Harmony, Counterpoint and Analysis will occur in situations where advanced students pursue Level 9, 10 and A.R.C.T. diplomas.
