Instructional Philosophy

 

“for all students to begin with basic classical technical training in order to eventually learn to be able to perform in any style of music including:
  • Classical
  • Celtic
  • Country & Western
  • Old-time
  • Jazz

Children– starting at the age of three will receive instruction in Suzuki’s “Mother Tongue Method.” Mothers and/or Fathers should expect to train along with the child for at least the first year.

General – includes instruction in basic Music Theory and History when appropriate.

Novice – experienced in instructing all ages from pre-school to retired.Intermediate – Students with at least a Level 3 Royal Conservatory competency can expect more detailed and focused instruction in technical matters including scales, etudes, bowings, fingerings, vibrato and the like.

Advanced – More detailed and specific instruction in areas such as Harmony, Counterpoint and Analysis will occur in situations where advanced students pursue Level 9, 10 and A.R.C.T. diplomas.
